The DayStar Quark Calcium H-Line is a specialty solar filter that lets you study the Sun in the calcium H-line at around 397nm. Calcium light highlights active regions and plage — the bright patches around sunspot groups — giving a very different picture of solar activity from hydrogen-alpha.

Because the calcium H-line sits at the violet/near-ultraviolet edge of vision, this filter is especially popular for imaging, where a camera captures detail the eye struggles to see. Like the rest of the Quark line, it installs like an eyepiece and includes its own magnifying lens.
