The DayStar Scout 60mm is a dedicated H-alpha solar telescope — a scope built for one job: showing you the living surface of the Sun in glorious red hydrogen-alpha light. Unlike a nighttime telescope with a bolt-on filter, the Scout has the solar etalon built in, so you simply point, focus, and observe safely. It is compact and light enough to travel with.

H-alpha is a very narrow slice of red light where the Sun's chromosphere comes alive — revealing prominences arcing off the edge, dark filaments, and mottled surface texture that white-light filters can't show.

What you'll see
In H-alpha the Sun's edge sprouts prominences — towering loops and arcs of glowing gas — while the disc shows dark filaments, bright active regions, and a fine mottled texture. It is a completely different, dynamic view of our star that changes day to day.
