An 80mm Dedicated H-Alpha Solar Telescope — Complete, Ready to Point at the Sun

The SS80 Solar Scout is a complete dedicated H-alpha solar telescope built around DayStar's Quark filter integrated into an 80mm achromat doublet. Unlike the 480E bundle where the Quark is removable and reusable on other scopes, the SS80 is purpose-built for solar observing — the helical front-end focuser moves the entire front element for focus, keeping the eyepiece stationary as you focus so you're never fighting a rotating or shifting eyepiece.

The 1400mm effective focal length puts prominences and surface detail at comfortable magnifications with standard eyepieces. The Quark is still removable for use on other instruments. Power is via USB (5V, 1.5A); a 110–240VAC wall adapter is included. A Solar Bullet finder projects a safe solar image onto a white screen for easy daiming.

Choose Prominence or Chromosphere Quark model at no extra cost.

2" eyepieces, diagonal, and camera T-adapters require optional accessories sold separately.
