Looking for a first telescope that actually delivers — one where the whole family can see Saturn's rings on night one? The Explore One 60mm Refractor comes with everything needed to start observing, all packed into a molded carrying case that makes it easy to set up in the backyard or bring along wherever the sky looks good.
Three eyepieces and a 3× Barlow lens give a wide range of magnifications from wide star fields all the way up to close planetary views — all without extra purchases on day one. Unlike stripped-down starter scopes that include one eyepiece and leave you wanting more, the 88-06000 ships ready to explore.
What you'll see
-
The Moon — craters, mountain ranges, and the jagged terminator line in sharp detail
-
Saturn's rings — clearly visible on good nights — an unforgettable first sight for anyone
-
Jupiter's four Galilean moons — as small dots, with hints of cloud bands at higher power
-
Open star clusters — the Pleiades and Beehive, beautiful at low power
-
Double stars — split into two distinct points of light

Frequently asked questions
Is 60mm enough to see Saturn's rings?
Yes — 60mm is the classic entry aperture for seeing Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons. At 56× or higher on a steady night, the rings are clearly defined and unmistakable. The first time a beginner sees Saturn's rings through a telescope is usually the moment they become hooked on astronomy.
What does the 3× Barlow actually do?
A Barlow is a lens that slides between the eyepiece and the focuser to multiply the magnification. With a 3× Barlow, your 35× eyepiece becomes 105× and your 56× eyepiece becomes 168×. It effectively triples your eyepiece collection for no extra cost and is great for squeezing more detail out of the Moon on steady nights.
What is the moon filter for?
The Moon is surprisingly bright through a telescope — enough to make your eye water and wash out fine surface detail. The included moon filter screws onto any eyepiece and cuts the brightness down to a comfortable level, letting you see crater walls and subtle surface features much more clearly.
Is the carrying case genuinely useful?
Very. The molded case has dedicated spots for the telescope tube, eyepieces, diagonal, and accessories. Everything stays organized between sessions, and the whole kit packs up in under two minutes. For families who move the telescope in and out of storage or take it to dark-sky sites, this makes a real difference.
