Six inches of aperture changes what you can see — and the Explore Scientific 152mm f/6.5 achromat refractor delivers that aperture in an OTA that pairs with virtually any mount you already own. The wide achromatic doublet lens pulls in nearly twice the light of a 4" refractor, making faint nebulae visibly brighter and revealing structure in galaxies that smaller scopes wash out entirely. The f/6.5 focal ratio keeps the tube length manageable while giving you enough magnification range for planetary and lunar work alongside deep-sky sweeping.

The DAR152065-02 adds the Hybrid 2-in-1 Finder Base — a smart mount that accepts Explore Scientific, Vixen, and Synta-style finder scopes, so whatever finder you already own will fit. The 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser and 2" dielectric diagonal come included, making this OTA observation-ready straight from the box.

What you'll see:

  • Emission nebulae — Orion, Lagoon, and Trifid show vivid structure and dark lane detail
  • Galaxies — core brightness, disc shape, and brighter outer structure visible under dark skies
  • Open clusters — individual stars resolved across wide, rich star fields
  • The Moon — extraordinary crater and rille detail at moderate magnification
  • Jupiter and Saturn — cloud belts, Cassini Division, and multiple moons

What's in the box:

  • 152mm achromatic doublet optical tube — the large-aperture refractor OTA with dew shield
  • 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser — smooth coarse and fine focus control
  • 2" dielectric diagonal with 1.25" adapter — angled viewer for a comfortable observing position
  • Hybrid 2-in-1 finder base — accepts Explore Scientific, Vixen, and Synta-style finder scopes
  • Vixen-style cradle rings and dovetail — compatible with most equatorial and alt-az mounts

Specs:

Aperture 152mm — 6 inches, collects ~470× more light than the unaided eye
Focal Length 988mm — excellent balance of wide-field and planetary magnification
Focal Ratio f/6.5 — fast enough for bright wide-field images, long enough for planets
Optical Design Air-spaced achromatic doublet — some colour fringing expected on very bright objects
Focuser 2" dual-speed Crayford — fine and coarse control in one unit
Diagonal 2" dielectric with 1.25" adapter — included
Finder Base Hybrid 2-in-1 — accepts Explore Scientific, Vixen, and Synta-style finder scopes
Mount Interface Vixen-style dovetail on cradle rings
Tube Length (with dew shield) ~1,040mm
OTA Weight ~10.9 kg

Step up to serious aperture without leaving your current mount behind — the DAR152065-02 is a substantial upgrade that pays off every clear night.
