The DayStar IEQT33 is a 0.33× tilt reducer for solar imagers who want the widest possible field. It shortens the effective focal length to a third of its original value — ideal for capturing the full solar disk — while an adjustable tilt removes interference fringing (Newton's rings) for cleaner, flatter H-alpha images.

With its stronger reduction, the IEQT33 is the go-to when you need to fit the entire Sun on your sensor and keep the field sharp from edge to edge.

Who it's for: Solar imagers using a DayStar Quark who want full-disk framing and fringe-free, flat-field images. New to imaging accessories? Start with our guide to astrophotography for beginners.

  • 0.33× focal reduction: Strong reduction for full-disk solar framing.
  • Built-in tilt: Adjustable tilt removes interference fringing from your captures.
  • Flatter fields: Helps keep the solar disk sharp across the frame.
  • Two functions, one unit: Combines a reducer and a tilt adapter to simplify your imaging train.

When should I choose the 0.33× over the 0.60×?
Choose the IEQT33 when you need the widest field for full-disk solar images; the 0.60× is a more moderate reduction.

Does it also stop Newton's rings?
Yes — the adjustable tilt removes interference fringing in addition to reducing focal length.

Is it for imaging or visual use?
It is designed for solar imaging, where full-disk framing and fringe removal matter most.
