80mm Dedicated H-Alpha Solar Telescope — Optimised for Surface Detail

The SS80C is the Chromosphere model of DayStar's SS80 Solar Scout. Hardware is identical to the SS80P Prominence model — the difference is the Quark filter: the Chromosphere Quark uses a tighter bandpass for higher surface contrast, emphasising filaments, plages, active regions, and chromospheric texture. The Prominence model is better suited to limb prominence viewing; the Chromosphere model is the choice for disc detail.

The helical front-end focuser keeps the eyepiece stationary while focusing — a real advantage over rack-and-pinion designs for solar work. 1400mm effective focal length. Quark is removable for use on other instruments. USB power (5V 1.5A); 110–240VAC wall adapter included.

2" eyepieces, diagonal, and camera adapters sold separately.

Who This Is For

  • Solar observers focused on surface detail — filaments, active regions, chromospheric structure — over prominence viewing
  • Anyone upgrading from a Quark-on-refractor setup to a dedicated solar instrument
