The DayStar Scout 80mm (Chromosphere model) is a dedicated H-alpha solar telescope tuned for surface detail. With the solar etalon built in, you point, focus, and safely watch the Sun's chromosphere in narrow hydrogen-alpha light — no separate filter or energy-rejection filter to add. The carbon-fiber tube keeps it light and thermally stable.

The Chromosphere tuning favors contrast on the solar disc, bringing out fine surface texture, active regions, and dark filaments, with tighter prominences at the edge.

What's the difference between Chromosphere and Prominence models?
Chromosphere (this model) favors surface contrast and detail with narrower prominences; the Prominence model gives wider, brighter edge prominences with a little less surface detail.

Do I need to add a filter?
No. The etalon is built in, so it is a complete dedicated solar telescope with no separate Quark or ERF needed.

Is it safe for direct viewing?
