The ULF 50mm white-light solar filter lets you safely view and photograph the Sun through binoculars or a camera lens. It fits over the front of a ~50mm objective and blocks the Sun's intense light to safe levels, revealing sunspots and the sharp solar limb in a near-natural white-light image. Because binoculars need a filter over each objective, this version is popular for outfitting a full pair.

Safety note: a solar filter must fully cover the front of each objective and be held on securely. Only view the Sun with the filter fitted — never point unfiltered binoculars, a camera, or your eyes at the Sun.

Who it's for
Binocular and camera users who want safe, affordable white-light solar viewing for sunspots and eclipses. New to solar imaging? See our beginner's guide to astrophotography.

  • Safe white-light film: reduces the Sun to safe levels for viewing and photography when properly fitted.
  • Fits ~50mm objectives: universal design for binocular and camera-lens fronts around 50mm.
  • Shows sunspots: near-natural white-light image of the solar disc and limb.
  • Sold in bulk: per-unit pricing with 10-unit and 50-unit minimums — ideal for pairs, events, and groups.
  • Great for eclipses: a low-cost way to prepare multiple instruments safely.

Why two filters for binoculars?
Binoculars have two objectives, so each side needs its own filter for safe viewing.

Is it safe for solar viewing?
Yes, when it fully covers each front objective and is secured in place. Inspect for pinholes or damage before every use.

Will it fit my binoculars or lens?
It's a universal design for fronts around 50mm. For larger optics, choose a correspondingly sized filter.

Why is it sold in bulk?
Per-unit pricing with 10- and 50-unit minimums makes it popular for pairs, eclipse events, and outreach groups.
