A serious deep-sky telescope that you can actually take anywhere. The Explore Scientific 10" f/5 Truss-Tube Dobsonian OTA packs a 254mm parabolic mirror into a design that breaks down for transport without tools. That mirror gathers dramatically more light than smaller beginner scopes — enough to pull in faint galaxies, globular clusters, and detailed nebulae even under average suburban skies.

This is the OTA-only version, built for observers who want the premium dual-speed focuser and mirror cooling fans over the accessory-kit DOB1045C. The dual-speed 2" rack-and-pinion focuser is a meaningful upgrade — precise fine-focus control that makes a real difference at high magnification.

What you'll see:

  • Galaxies — Andromeda, Whirlpool (M51), Sombrero, and hundreds of Messier and NGC targets
  • Nebulae — Orion Nebula in vivid structural detail, Ring Nebula, Lagoon, and fainter objects
  • Globular clusters like M13 and M22, individual stars resolving across the face
  • Planets — Saturn's rings with Cassini Division, Jupiter's cloud bands, Mars surface features
  • The Moon — craters, rilles, and mountain ranges in extraordinary detail

What's in the box:

  • 10" f/5 truss-tube Dobsonian OTA — 254mm parabolic mirror in collapsible truss design
  • Dual-speed 2" rack-and-pinion focuser with 1.25" adapter — precise fine-focus control without slipping
  • Dual primary-mirror fans — accelerate cool-down time for sharper views sooner
  • Red-dot finder — fast target acquisition
  • Collimation tool — for maintaining mirror alignment
  • Light baffle — reduces stray light for better contrast

Note: This is the OTA (optical tube assembly) only — no rocker box or eyepieces are included. You'll need a compatible Dobsonian rocker box and at least one eyepiece to observe. If you want a complete ready-to-use kit, see the DOB1045C.

Specs:
