The Explore Scientific 102mm f/7 FCD100 Triplet APO Refractor is a premium four-inch air-spaced triplet apochromatic refractor telescope built around HOYA FCD100 extra-low-dispersion glass — comparable to Ohara FPL-53. The larger 102mm aperture gathers more light and resolves finer detail than an 80mm, delivering exceptional color correction, pinpoint stars, and high contrast for both visual astronomy and serious astrophotography.

Why choose 102mm over 80mm?
The larger aperture gathers about 60% more light and resolves finer detail, for brighter, sharper views and images — at the cost of a bit more size and weight.

How good is the color correction?
HOYA FCD100 glass in an air-spaced triplet gives excellent, near-fluorite color correction, so bright stars and planets show virtually no false-color fringing.

Is a mount included?
No — this is the optical tube only. Use a sturdy equatorial mount for imaging, or a capable alt-az for visual.

Good for astrophotography?
Yes — paired with a matched field flattener or reducer it's an excellent wide-field imaging scope.
