The third channel in the Hubble palette. The Explore Scientific 12nm S-II filter 1.25-inch (310115) isolates the singly-ionized sulfur emission wavelength — the red channel used alongside H-Alpha and O-III to produce the iconic Hubble palette (SHO) color mapping found in famous images of nebulae like the Pillars of Creation and the Crab Nebula. If you're building out a narrowband astrophotography filter set and want to create SHO-palette images, S-II completes the trio. The 12nm bandwidth offers more light throughput for beginners just starting out. Fits standard 1.25-inch filter threads. Ships free to the US.
