The Explore Scientific Sidara Pro 127mm is a motorized GoTo Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope that finds and tracks objects automatically through the SkyAssist system. Pick a target in the app and the Sidara Pro mount's motors slew the telescope to it and keep it centred as the sky moves — pairing a high-power 127mm (5-inch) Mak-Cassegrain optical tube with genuinely effortless, hands-off observing.

Its 127mm aperture and long 1900mm focal length (f/15) are built for sharp, high-contrast views of the Moon, planets and double stars, while the compact folded optical design keeps the tube short and portable. The motorized GoTo mount removes the hardest part of astronomy for beginners: actually locating things.

Who it's for: Beginners and casual observers who want a high-power planetary and lunar telescope that finds and tracks objects for them. New to automated scopes? Read our guide to GoTo vs manual telescopes.

  • Motorized GoTo mount: automatically slews to and tracks objects you pick in the app.
  • SkyAssist smart navigation: guided alignment and an extensive object catalogue.
  • 127mm f/15 Mak-Cassegrain optics: a 5-inch aperture with 1900mm focal length for high-power, high-contrast planetary and lunar detail.
  • Automatic tracking: keeps targets centred for relaxed viewing and easy sharing.
  • Complete package: optical tube and GoTo mount together with a 25mm Plössl eyepiece, 1.25" 90° diagonal, red dot finder and smartphone adapter — ready to observe.

What you'll see: The 127mm optics and long focal length excel on the Moon's craters and rilles, Saturn's rings and Cassini Division, Jupiter's cloud belts and moons, Mars at opposition, and tight double stars, all held steady by automatic tracking. Under darker skies it also reaches brighter globular clusters, planetary nebulae and the cores of brighter galaxies.

What does GoTo mean?
A GoTo mount uses motors and an object database to automatically drive the telescope to a target you select and track it across the sky.

Is this a good first telescope?
Yes — a high-power 127mm Mak plus automatic finding and tracking makes it easy for beginners to see fine planetary and lunar detail.

Do I need to align it each night?
A quick guided alignment in the SkyAssist app sets it up; after that the mount locates and follows objects for you.

Can I photograph through it?
It's built for visual use and casual lunar and planetary snaps; long-exposure deep-sky imaging needs a tracking equatorial mount.
