The SVBONY SV193 2" 0.8x focal reducer and field flattener is an astrophotography accessory that makes your SV503 80ED refractor faster and its images flatter. A focal reducer shortens the effective focal length — here from 560mm (f/7) to about 448mm (f/5.6) — so you capture a wider field and gather light more quickly, shortening the exposures needed for the same result.

It also acts as a field flattener, correcting the natural curvature that makes stars look stretched toward the corners of a refractor's frame. The result is pinpoint stars from centre to edge across full-frame sensors.

What does a 0.8x focal reducer do?
It shortens the telescope's focal length, giving a wider field and a faster focal ratio so you can capture more sky in shorter exposures.
