Accurate Polar Alignment Made Simple — Even in the Dark

Polar alignment is one of the most important steps in astrophotography, and getting it right without the right tool is frustrating. The PF-L II Polar Scope inserts directly into your mount's polar axis and uses a 3-star alignment method — you align three reference stars (such as Polaris, δ UMi, and 51 Cep in the northern hemisphere) with their positions on the illuminated reticle. The reticle also shows familiar constellation patterns like the Big Dipper and Cassiopeia, so there's no need to calculate hour angles in the dark.

Done correctly, you can achieve polar alignment accuracy of 3 arc minutes or better — precise enough for confident long-exposure astrophotography.
